Number of Bridal Shoes to Purchase

 

Here is something I never thought about until a friend of mine told me how her wedding flip flops saved her during her reception. For my wedding, I bought a pair of 3 inch designer bridal shoes and they lasted until the first dance. Then, I was barely able to stand and I finally switched out my wedding shoes for the free slippers from the hotel!  My feet really hurt since I had been standing on them since 9 AM in the morning.  After pictures, the long ceremony, and then walking around greeting guests, my feet had red sores on them from the straps digging in.

So, consider buying 2 bridal shoes or even 3 for your wedding day! An extra pair will save your feet so you can have a good time during your honeymoon.  Don’t be like me and spend the first 3 days of your honeymoon with your feet up after hurting them with high heel wedding shoes all night.  

If you decide to buy more than one, don’t forget the following:

1)  Make sure that the second pair of bridal shoes have a similar heel height to your actual wedding shoes. This way, your dress doesn’t drag on the ground when you’re dancing or talking. I’ve found the perfect pair of bridal flip flops that come in all heel heights for you to change into.  Or, consider buying wedges to change into.

2)  Bring the shoes with you to the ceremony and while you’re taking pictures. Wear the comfortable bridal shoes while you’re waiting for the ceremony to begin and then change into the nicer wedding shoes when your wedding starts. This will definitely help all you ladies who are having a longer ceremony.  For pictures, use the comfortable shoes when you are walking around to the different locations that your photographer will want you to go to.  Then, change into the nicer pair of shoes when you get to that location.  Also, let the photographer know that you have 2 pairs of shoes so he is aware of this.  If and when he takes pictures above the waist, you can keep those comfortable wedding shoes on.

3)  If you prefer not to wear bridal flip flops, consider buying a pair of cute flats or low bridal shoes.  Flat bridal shoes are not only really cute, but will save your feet all night.  Plus, you can certainly wear white flats again if you choose to go that way.  Some flats also have small heels so you can get a little height.  If you are already pretty tall or if your groom isn’t that tall, flats are a perfect alternative to keep the height difference and to save your feet.
