Dyeable Bridal Shoes Tips |
|
Dyeable wedding shoes are only a good choice for one of these 3 reasons: 1) If you want to dye them a different color to wear later, 2) You want your bridesmaids to wear the same shoes as you and they need to dye them a different color, or 3) You happen to find a pair that you like (since these shoes can be worn as is without dyeing them). The issue with dyeable bridal shoes is that I noticed that most are not cute. So, I’ve done my research for you and picked out the few that are cute (see dyeable bridal shoes). If you are going to dye those shoes, here are some tips for you: 1. Time: Leave enough time for you to dye your shoes. Check with the local shoe store or shoe repair store to confirm that your shoes will be dyed in time. 2. Fabric: Only buy high quality silk or white satin dyeable wedding shoes. These will last through several dye processes so you can dye the shoes a different color after your wedding. Good quality dyeable shoes can be dyed 4-6 times. 3. Embellishments: Don’t worry about the embellishments, the crystals and details won’t be affected when your shoes are dyed. 4. Check the Color: Review the color and bring your own fabric swatch to make sure the dye specialists know the exact color you want before they dye your shoes. Most of the time, they will let you approve them before they are finished. 5. Lighting: Check the color in indoor and outdoor light to make sure it doesn’t change. Dye specialists know about this, but you should check this yourself. 6. Contrasting colors: There’s a good chance the color won’t be exactly the same. Again, complimentary shades of white and ivory will look fabulous. 7. Do it at the same time: If you are dyeing bridesmaid shoes and handbags, do it at the same time. Otherwise, the color may come out slightly differently since it is a different batch and dyes are mixed on the spot. 8. Water proof: Have the shoes treated with water repellent to control staining it it rains or the shoes get caught in water. For those looking for some great dyeable shoes, check out the ones below:
