I just went to a wedding show and it was really crazy. It was my first wedding show and I was completely overwhelmed. First off, every vendor wanted me to sign up for more information. I spent so much time writing my name and contact information. Finally, I made that comment to a vendor and they told me that lots of brides came with business cards. Those without cards or who didn't want to give their work contact, made contact information on their computers, printed them out and then brought them to the show. Tip #1 everyone - don't forget to print out contact information on your computer. It will save you tons of time and allow you to enjoy the show. Also, Tip #2, if you don't want to give out your real email address, create another one on yahoo just for your wedding. That way, you won't be contacted by tons of vendors afterwards and your inbox won't be inundated. The bridal show was actually really interesting. I brought my fiance with me and we spent a lot of time tasting cakes. We found out that even Albertson's makes cakes. It was amazing! Who knew? Their cakes were passable, although not amazing, but the decor was pretty. We also saw a ton of florists. So, what is the difference between a bouquet of roses? Apparently, $150! Some florists quoted me a price of $60 for a bouquet, while others quoted me $210! The most amazing thing we saw though was about - you guessed it, shoes! So, we saw a vendor selling bridal flip flops. I was so excited! But, they were awful. They had these fake looking crystals on the straps and they looked really cheap. They didn't even come in different heel heights, only 1 inch. And, the worst part was the price. Guess how much ladies? $100/pair!!! Can you believe it? Thank goodness there are other ones on this site that are much prettier and less than half the price. I would get a jump on those right now. Perfect for your bridesmaids and perfect for you. Finally, for $10 (the cost of the bridal show - fiance's were free that night), we received a ton of flyers giving us discounts to the vendors. I noticed that if you were interested in a vendor, they seemed to be willing to negotiate and give better discounts that night. We also signed up for the Men's Warehouse, where all of our groomsmen are going to receive $30 off per tux rental on the big day. What a great discount! Since we have 6 groomsmen, that's going to be $180 off for them automatically. So, all in all, the bridal show was totally worth it. One tip, do your research beforehand and make sure you target the vendors you want to see. All of the bridal shows list their vendors on their websites so you can read about them before you go. Finally, tip #4 - Have fun! Enjoy yourself! And, bring your fiance. You will need him to help you carry all of the vendor materials and talk to some of the vendors. He may grumble a little in the beginning, but let him taste the cakes and free food before digging into the other vendors!
