Should I buy designer wedding shoes or save money and buy cheap bridal shoes? I’ve been thinking about this question a lot these days, and as most of you know, I just love designer shoes. I think one of my friends said it best when she told me how she imagined her wedding day. “A beautiful wedding dress and Christian Louboutins on my feet.” Yes, that was the exact thing she said. No mention about the designer of the wedding dress, just the wedding day shoes that she was going to wear. I’ve never forgotten that phrase since I was so surprised that the shoes were the first thing she thought of. It really got me thinking about how much the shoes make your outfit and whether or not designer wedding shoes would make a difference.
Now, that I’ve seen so many shoes, I want to say that it might, but you really have to think about it for yourself. I think it is such a personal decision. On the one hand, I think your wedding is your big day. That is probably the only day you can splurge. Plus, if there’s one gift that you can ask your fiancé for, and one thing that he won’t get wrong, that just might be a pair of wedding shoes. One of my good friends just asked for the Jimmy Choo bridal shoes for her wedding and that is exactly what she received for Christmas. As long as your fiancé knows your size, he can’t really get that wrong. Plus, Valentine’s Day is coming up and what could be more romantic? Ha, ha, I’d prefer Jimmy Choos or a pair of Manolos any day over red roses! And if you want red, just get the Louboutins – those soles are red enough for me.
I totally understand that a wedding costs a lot of money. I’ve been looking at wedding venues and even the chairs are $10-$15 a person. Of course that’s because I want to rent the beautiful chiavari chairs and don’t want to use the venue chairs. Then, I stepped back and thought about it. 200 chiavari chairs or 2 pairs of beautiful shoes? It’s hard to call that. I just may end up choosing the shoes over the chairs.
So, all I have to say is, think about this decision long and hard. The one thing is that your shoes can be worn again. Yes, even if you choose to wear white wedding shoes or ivory bridal shoes, they can all be worn again. Summer is coming and white shoes would be cute with any outfit. Plus, you’ll have to break in the shoes so why not buy those beautiful white shoes you’ve been eyeing? Since the shoes are the main part of the outfit that you can wear again, you may want to consider splurging on them instead of going cheap. Also, these shoes will be in the wedding day pictures. That’s the one thing that has me considering designer bridal shoes. The thought of looking through my wedding album and seeing the pictures of my shoes on that day and seeing that they aren’t as beautiful as ones I could have purchased, that is really going to make me cry. The other option is for the photographer to not take a picture of the shoes so you won’t have to see them again, but they are part of the whole ensemble and shoes really look great in the photograph.
Well, that’s all I have to say for now. I’m still deciding on what to do. Let me know if any of you have decided. Saving $500 and buying cheap bridal shoes is definitely still an option that I am considering. I could put that $500 towards another part of the wedding, so I’m definitely going to consider all of the details. Since I’m still in the beginning of my wedding planning, I figure I don’t have to think about it yet. The only luxury I’m currently indulging in is going shopping and looking at potential shoes that I might buy. I’ll keep sending you shoes that I find – both for your wedding and just for fun so keep your eyes out!
