One of the hardest things to find is ivory wedding shoes.  Mostly, because there are so many different shades of ivory and everyone is trying hard to find the shade that matches their specific dress.  I’m going to tell you a simple trick:  don’t try to match your dress.  Instead, look for shoes that are a darker shade than your dress.  If you do this, then you will have no problem finding your perfect ivory wedding shoe.

What do I mean by this?  So, first, take a look at your gorgeous dress.  If you are planning an outdoor wedding, take it outside and look at it.  The shade of ivory that you will see is a bit different outside than it is inside.  Outside, in the sunlight, the ivory color will look a bit lighter.  Inside, it will look darker.  What you want to do is make sure you know the right shade that your dress is.  Ask for a sample or a ask the alterations person to give you a small piece from where she cut off or shortened the hem.  This will make it easier for you to find the right shoe.

Next, take a look at the different ivory shoes in the store.  What you will see is that some of them are closer to white while others are closer to gold.  Ivory is a great combination of white and gold.  For some, the ivory can look closer to a yellow gold. For others, your dress can look closer to a white, especially when you go outside in the sun.  Based on the color of the dress, choose shoes that are a bit darker.

If you choose shoes that are lighter, then what will happen is that the shoes will stand out in a really funny way.  Have you ever seen fluorescent lightbulbs versus a regular white color?  This is what will happen is you choose ivory wedding shoes that are lighter than your dress.  Everyone will be starting down at your feet instead of at your face and your beautiful dress.  Of course you want people to admire your ivory wedding shoe, but first you want them to admire your gorgeous hair, make-up and beautiful wedding dress.  

So, when choosing the shoes, go for a shade that is either exactly the same color or a bit darker than the shade of your dress.  The darker color will complement the dress and bring out the brightness of the ivory.  A lighter color may make the ivory look a bit washed out, something you don’t want to happen.  If you don’t believe me, go ahead and try this for yourself outside.  Take a pair of white shoes even and see what happens.  You will see that if you take lighter shoes, they will look glaring against your dress.  But, a darker pair of shoes will look wonderful and complement the dress perfectly.
