I Am Back and Full of 2010 Wedding News.

It’s been a long time since I’ve written, but I wanted to tell everyone that I am back.  In the past few months, I’ve been to 6 weddings and been in 3.   It’s been the busiest time of year and I completely neglected all of you.  But, I’m back.  Each wedding, I’ve learned new things about your wedding shoes, what colors are hot, and what else to do to prepare for the big day.  I had to help with the photography, the videography, flowers, the dress, and everything else.  So, I’m hoping to start sharing these things with you so you can avoid the same mistakes my friends made and you can be well prepared for your big day.  There are also a ton of new shoes, dresses, and new accessories that I’ve seen that I want to start showing you.  Finally, do you have questions?

Do you have questions about your shoes or what to buy?

Do you want a wedding day checklist so you are ready?

Do you want to know which shoes to choose – the fabulous blue wedding shoes or the cute pink bridal shoes?

Do you just have general questions and thoughts that you want me to cover?

Well, email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I will try and talk about all of your questions.  I will try and answer them every week so you will have the best wedding ever.

Weddings Fresh wedding blog I love
Wednesday, 05 August 2009 09:29

Hi everyone!  From time to time I’ll be introducing new wedding blogs that I love to read.   I am constantly scouring wedding blogs for new ideas for shoes and just for new ideas for my own wedding.  The problem is that whenever I read these blogs, I start to think of new things to add to my wedding and my fiancé starts to get worried, especially when I want to switch flowers or linens or something!  The problem is, I just want everything!  I love so many different looks!  Dani, who writes the Weddings Fresh blog that I want to talk about today, sums it up so well in her intro “if I could, I would get married every year, to the same wonderful man, but in a new and fabulous way each and every time.”  That is me!

I read Weddings Fresh to see the fantastic weddings and the beautiful fashions that she showcases.  Every Friday, Dani features “Gown Friday” which is a new designer of fantastic wedding gowns.  As a matter of fact, I bought my wedding gown after she showcased the designer Britta Kjerkegarrd on her website.

I’ve found so many wonderful wedding tips on the blog and everyday, I drool over the new wedding details that are posted.  If you’re planning your own wedding or you just love to see other fantastic weddings, I would head over to this blog really fast.  Be careful though because once you start reading it, you’ll want to change around the details of your own wedding!

Summer discount wedding shoes
Wednesday, 29 July 2009 10:40

It's time to get those discount wedding shoes.  The summer sales are upon us and everyday, I'm getting emails from stores having their super summer sales.  I just took a look at a few and saw a lot of great wedding shoes that you should take advantage of.  Everything from ivory bridal shoes to fantastic bridal sandals.  Below are just a few that I found, although there are a lot more out there.

First, I looked online at J. Crew.  In the past few years, they've really expanded their wedding area and many women are now buying their wedding dresses from this store as well.  If you are looking for shoes, here are a few great ones that I found:

The first ones are fantastic pink wedding shoes.  They are the Posie patent-leather peep toes.  They have a gorgeous flower in the front and a 3 inch heel.  Perfect for any girl looking for pink bridal shoes instead of the traditional white or ivory.  They are also on sale.  Originally $225, they are now $89.99!  What a steal!

The next pair are these beautiful pale gold wedding shoes.  They are called the "Faye midheel sandals."  Originally $188, they are now on sale for $110!  These beautiful 3 inch heels have a delicate strappy design and ankle straps to hold the shoes on your feet.  I think these are fantastic with any ivory dress or any white dress accented with gold.

Finally, these Joley patent-leather peep toes are simple and elegant.  They are half price, originally $200, they are on sale for $100.  They are also a 3 inch heel and they come in a color called "stone."  The stone looks a little grey, but not exactly.  I would say it's sort of a mix between silver and white, so if you want something you can wear in the future and still wear on your wedding day, these might be the perfect pair.

There are also a few gorgeous wedding flip flops and a lot of other great color shoes including a fantastic blue wedding shoe that I saw.

Next, I went to Nordstrom to look at what was on sale for their anniversary sale.  This is one of the biggest sales of the year and a lot of their shoes will go on sale.
First, check out these fantastic gold shoes from Charles David.  They have a 4 3/4 heel so for all of you women hoping to look a little taller, these are great!  Also, they are on sale for $90 from $135.  Finally, the beautiful straps in front really make your feet look gorgeous.  Plus, you can definitely wear these again later.

Next, I saw these gorgeous red flats called the Me Too "Limit" Ruffle Ballet Flats.  These would be the perfect red bridal flats for anyone looking for flats and something colorful to wear underneath their dress.  I think the ruffles in front are so cute and they actually match a lot of other outfits too.

I shopped a lot at Nordstrom's and I actually saw more colorful shoes than white ones.  If you're looking for color, or if you are looking for wedge sandals to change into, I would definitely go to Nordstroms to check out their stuff.

Finding gorgeous discount wedding shoes is a hard thing, but I know there are a lot out there if you shop often, know what you want, and hit the major sales.  So, start shopping and email me any great deals that you've found lately!

Wedding Cakes Decisions
Friday, 24 July 2009 09:24

The other day, I took a break from wedding shoes shopping to think about my wedding cake.  On your big day, one of the most important things that you will serve to your guests is the wedding cake.  Therefore, I started to think through all of the details that I might want.  First, I thought about my colors.  My wedding colors are actually pink and turquoise.  I thought what I might be able to do is put a combination of both colors on my cake.  Then, I thought about the type of shape I wanted.  A cake with different circular rounds on it is the most traditional, but I really think I prefer the square rounds.  Next, I thought about whether or not I wanted to put flowers on the cake.  I guess for me, it really came down to how the flowers and the colors would all match.  I’m using pink roses and blue hydrangeas, so I decided to use blue as the base and put pink roses on the top of the cake to decorate the cake.

My fiancé and I are actually going in for a cake tasting next weekend and I am so excited.  I think, besides the décor, the cake tasting is one of the best parts of planning the wedding!  It’s probably because I love desserts.  If I had my choice, the entire meal would be filled with different desserts and then capped off with the wedding cake.  Of course, that probably wouldn’t go over too well with the rest of the guests, but I just love sweets!

For our cake flavors, we have a choice of a banana crème, a pumpkin, a tiramisu, a raspberry and vanilla cake, a chocolate cake and even a coffee flavored cake.  My fiancé loves chocolate and I love a fruity combination so we are thinking of asking for different layers – chocolate and raspberry vanilla.  Right now, we’re not sure if we want to go with anything too different although we’ve heard that the banana crème is fantastic.  I’ll let you know what we decide.

Wedding cakes
are one of the most important parts of the wedding.  They help with the décor and they finish the meal for all of your guests so make sure you start thinking about your cake early on!

By the way - here is the one I'm thinking about.  I'm planning on adding some pink roses on the top or sides, depending on what the florist suggests.
