Lately, I've been asked a lot about whether or not to buy white wedding shoes or go for something else. More recently, I've seen a lot of brides add a splash of color to their wedding outfits by choosing red wedding shoes or blue wedding shoes. Probably, after watching the Sex and the City movie, a lot of girls decided that white was too boring. Since Carrie was wearing blue bridal shoes, they mine as well go for their colors too. I've also seen a lot of brides opt for something more sparkly like gold or silver wedding shoes.
So, in order to see what brides are buying now, I polled my girlfriends who are getting married to understand the pros and cons of buying white bridal shoes.
PROS of buying white wedding shoes: -They usually match your dress really well and complement your entire outfit. -They don't outshine your dress so you and the dress will be the center of attention. -They are really cute to wear all summer again and again so this won't be the only time you wear them. -You can take them on your honeymoon if you are going to the beach or somewhere warm. -There are a ton of options to choose from since many designers make white formal shoes so you can definitely shop around and find something.
CONS of purchasing white bridal shoes: -They get dirty easily so if you are going to break them in, you have to be really careful. Be careful if you wear the shoes to your rehearsal if your wedding is in grass or on the beach -Some of them are very bridal so you may not be able to wear them again since there are too many rhinestones or elaborate details that make them too formal for everyday wear -The shade of white may not be the same color as your dress so either the shoes will stand out or the dress will stand out.
So, there you have it. The major pros and cons of buying white wedding shoes. Personally, a lot of my bridal friends told me that it really depended on the shoe and how much you want them to match or make a different statement.
