Here at WeddingFeet, we conducted a survey of brides to see what they were looking for in a wedding shoe for their weddings this year. Here is what we found: 1. Purple: Purple is the new white. Purple is the color that lots of brides are looking for. The deep, dark rich purple is really popular this year, both as a wedding color and as a wedding shoe. Purple not only looks luxurious, but it is also a great color to wear with jeans or black pants after the wedding. So, brides are looking for purple shoes so they can wear on their special day as well as later on. If you are looking for purple wedding shoes, WeddingFeet has selected some of the best ones from the different stores for you to shop at. 2. Designer shoes: This year, more than ever, brides are looking to buy designer wedding shoes for their wedding. This is the perfect excuse for brides to buy a pair of expensive shoes. Thus, they don’t want the white designer shoe. They would rather go for a pair of silver or gold designer heels so they can wear them again later on. Why not splurge on a pair of Manolos or Jimmy Choos for your big day? When else will you get such an important, fantastic excuse? 3. Comfortable shoes: More and more brides are choosing comfortable shoes over anything else. Many brides are realizing that they will be standing on their feet all day. So, comfort was a huge trend. More shoe manufacturers are producing special comfort shoes targeted towards women who want cute, but comfortable shoes. 4. More glitter: Silver and gold are still extremely popular colors. Buying silver wedding shoes or gold bridal shoes is a great alternative to the traditional white or ivory. Plus, they look great later on with any outfit. The glitter definitely helps to bring out the glitter on any wedding dress. Brides with plainer dresses are opting for something sparkly just to make their outfits look better. 5. Ankle straps: In the past, many brides have told us stories of their shoes falling off because they don’t have any ankle straps. Thus, more and more brides are looking for shoes with ankle straps. The buckles are getting fancier as shoe designers decorate them with rhinestones and beads to make the shoe a little bit more special. 6. Shoe pads: Shoe pads from Foot Petals and Dr. Scholls are going into shoes a lot more. They allow the bride to be extra comfortable so her feet won’t hurt at the end of the night. Brides opting for higher heels will want to look for shoe pads to add a lot of comfort to the entire shoe. 7. 3 shoes: More and more brides are buying 3 shoes: a pair of traditional heels for the ceremony, a fun pair of shoes to wear for pictures, and a pair of flip flops for the dance floor. The fun pair of shoes includes rain boots, wedges, red, blue and even green shoes, and just something special that the bride would like to show off. Brides are using shoes as a statement piece similar to their necklaces and other accessories and photographers love it. Many great photos are being taken of the bride and her 3 pairs of shoes. 8. Tennis shoes: Non-traditional brides who want to be super comfortable are opting for tennis shoes. They are sometimes even getting matching shoes with their groom. The groom wears one style and the bride wears another. Looks great in photos! 9. Ankle bracelets: To show off their legs, brides are wearing ankle bracelets. Many are very delicate with little rhinestones decorating the edges. Some of the bracelets are given by their bridesmaids during the bridal shower. Brides are also giving their bridal parties matching ankle bracelets so everyone has one to remember the big day by. 10. Chunky heels: Brides who still want high heels are looking for chunky heels instead of the thin stilettos. This is because no bride wants to fall down during their walk down the aisle or their first dance. The chunky heel gives more support and balance which the bride needs. It also prevents the bride from sinking into the grass, especially if her ceremony is on grass, dirt, or any soft ground. So, there you have it, the top 10 wedding shoe trends of 2010 from our WeddingFeet survey.
