Beautiful DIY Wedding Place Cards

Although we here at WeddingFeet.com are constantly obsessing over the latest wedding shoes, we love new wedding ideas as well.  Recently a fellow bride shared with us a fantastic way to create your wedding placecards.  Not only does this make it very personal, but it allows couples to share their personal experiences with their guests.

100 placecards - $5.00

Our brides’ goal was to create a unique experience for her guests and also tell them the story about their relationship at her wedding.  She and her fiancé had traveled a lot and really enjoyed a lot of fun experiences.  So, she thought a great way to share this was by turning her photos into place cards and a unique game.

What our bride did was the following:
1. First, she selected 20 different photos of herself and her fiancé from their travels and fun experiences together.

2. She created a list of all of her wedding guests, including how she wanted the names to appear.

3. She then used Photoshop to cut a 4x6 photo into 4 different halves.

4. Next, she shrank each photo to fit into one of the 4 halves (see the example).  For the top 2 halves, she rotated them to face the other way (the yellow and the turquoise boxes).  This way, she would have 2 sets of wedding placecards per photo (photo 1 and photo 2).

5. Next, she pasted each name on the bottom half of each photo (example Miss Jenny Thompson, Mr. Keith Halwell).  Therefore, each photo had 2 names.

6. After that, she sent all of the photos to the local CostCo to print out each photo.  For 100 placecards, she ended up with 50 photos at a cost of $5.00 (10 cents a photo).

7. After that, she cut each photo in half, keeping Photo 1 together and Photo 2 together.

8. Then, she folded each one in half, creating a single 2 x 3 wedding place card for each guest.

You will see the final results in the photos below.

Each placecard had a different picture and the guest’s individual names.  The bride told us that “my guests loved them because the photos were so unique and fun.”  They also served as great conversation pieces and a great game as guests tried to guess the location and year of the photo.  Also, “many guests even took their placecard home to remember our wedding by.”  All in all, it cost her only $5.00 to create all of these personalized and unique placecards.

So, if you are finished shoe shopping for your white wedding shoes, or just need a little break, why not start looking through photos to create your own unique custom diy wedding place cards.
