10 Tips to Finding the Perfect Bridal Shoes

1.  Throw out what you think you should buy.  Stop looking through all of the magazines.  That will just confuse you.  Think about what type of shoes you like to wear.

2.  Consider buying 2 pairs.  One for the ceremony and one to change into after your first dance.  This way, you can show off your shoes in pictures, but still be comfortable the rest of the night.

3.  Don't worry about color.  Don't try to match your shoes to your dress exactly.  Consider gold shoes or silver shoes or even blue, red, or purple shoes.  The shoes do not have to match your white or cream dress.

4.  Go to all types of shoe stores.  Don't just shop for shoes in bridal stores.  That won't leave you with many options.  A bridal shoe does not have to be purchased in a bridal store.

5.  In the store, wear them around for 10 minutes to make sure they are comfortable.

6.  Make sure you know the heel height you need.  Your dress should not drag on the ground.  Nor should the shoes be completely shown.  An ideal heel height is half an inch to an inch above the ground, depending on what you prefer.

7.  Pay for a comfortable pair of shoes that you can wear after your wedding day.  Why buy a great pair of shoes that you can only wear once?

8.  Bring a friend that has already gotten married.  Since she spent the time looking, she will have plenty of advice.

9.  Shop in a friend's or sister's closet.  You never know what you will find and this could be something "borrowed" on your big day.

10.  Shop early.  Don't wait until the last minute.  Shoes are a key element of your outfit.

Tips for the rhinestones

Hi Toni!

Are the shoes getting caught on your w edding gown? Are they gettin
g caught on the outer lining or inner lining?

The thing about rhin estone
shoes is that they have a tendency to get c aught if the rhinestones aren't laid
out correctly on the shoe or if your hem is lacy or has an inne r lining.

One way to avoid this without cha nging anything is to casually lift up the f
ront of your dress, especially when you are walking down the aisle or walking
around or dancing on the danc e floor. I know this might be awkward.

The o
ther thing to do is to check where they are gettin g caught and see if there is
some way to smooth ou t the gown at that point. For example, if it is t he inn
er lining, see if you can have a seamstress sew the lining tighter so that the
seams don't get caught. Sometimes, the seamstress can add an ext ra thin layer
inside in that area that nobody can see so that t...
